We named our first son Anson. Then when our second son arrived, we named him Andy without check the meaning of the name(We are foreigner). Now we found out that accroding to Bible, Anson is the son of Andy. So we just don't know if we should change my second son's name or not. If we need to do so, what can we do with his birth certificate and his passport(we already got his passport)? Thank you very much for your opinion!!!

Sure you can use it, almost no one knows the meaning of names from the Bible and it is quite doubtful that any Americans would hassle you about it even if they did know. However, if *you* really don't like the name Andy any more you could change it but it will be a pain wiht lots of forms to fill out and court costs and can be expensive. I'm sure you have better things to do with your money for your sons like save up for college!!
Look at the famous boxer George Foreman, he named all his sons George which must be super-confusing, but he is very famous for doing this.

If you like their names, then just ignore the biblical reference. If you're religious and affects you in any way or form, then sure go right on and change it. But I'm certain that Anson will definitely be like a father figure to Andy at some point or another as he is the oldest! So looking at their names with such an idea may reinforce your decision of changing their names! Good luck!

i didn't know what Anson meant before you told us. i think ther are nice names. if either child wants to change their name later inlife because of it, they should be able to if they want. don't worry over it, your kids will pick up on it an d may think there is something wrong with their names. it isn't like you named your sons elizabeth and jennifer. though nice names as well, boys may not think so ("boy named sue" johnny cash)

I wouldn't worry about it. It's fine, and I bet most people won't worry about it either or care. It's none of their business what you name your children and I think that the names sound good together. You can name them whatever you want. In my opinion, I don't think that you should go through all the trouble of changing his name for that.

It is apparent that you value the teachings of the Bible. If this is your guide and you feel strong about it then change the child's name. The legalities of this is simple. This is a decision that should be decided by you and your husband solely for your personal satisfactions or biblical traditions that are followed by your family

Like they said above, you can name your kids whatever you want, especially if you don't care if they hate you in the future.

Relax, the 'meaning' of a name is determined by the individual and not by someone who wrote a book about it. Relax, relax, relax..
