What is the promise Montag makes at the end of the book? Because I can't find it anywhere in the book.

It's been a very long time since I read it, but I believe the idea is included in the phrase "When we reach the city ..." and the building of the mirror factory, a metaphor for establishing a manner in which they can truly look at each other.

Well, i read this last year but i think that it was to keep memorizing all the books he could and to try and pass it all on! Sorry i couldn't help more-- Try sparknotes.com and search for the book then look at the last chapter's summary.

I just read it I think it is rebuilding the city from its ashes or being in the book group thing.
