I really like the name Lana, for a number of reasons.
It is a name that cannot be dated to a certain era. It hasn't spiked in popularity in the 70's or 80's etc, and therefore the age of the person can not be guessed by their name.
Lana is less common now, and has also been less common in the past, that the name Ashlie. If you name your child Lana, it is less likely that she will have 5 other children in her class with the same name, than if you name her Ashlie.
Also, there are less spelling variations of the name Lana, meaning that people are likely to spell her name correctly more often. Ashlie can be spelt in a variety of ways, leading to a lot of confusion.
But no matter what my opinion is, go for the name that you like the best! It's your baby, and you should name her what you want. Good on you for putting so much thought into the name!

Ashlie is very common. Lana is not heard as much these days. I like Lana.

Between the two, I say Ashlie (but spelled Ashley or Ashlee) only because Lana is 'anal' backwards. But if Lana weren't anal backwards, I would definitely like it better then Ashlie. Hope that made sense =)

I like Lana. Ashlie is quite popular (or was) I am not sure what the popularity is right now with little children. Even though Ashley was popular when I was in HS, there were NO Ashleys in my graduating class. There were plenty right below me though. That is why I am not completely sick of the name.
