I guess 3-10 city blocks. If someone just plain nuked it the whole city would be destroyed and the surrounding areas would be come unsafe to even step into for years.

Though most experts believe a dirty bomb could only contaminate a few city blocks, at best, you'd have to believe that people's fear would result in them abandoning anything within a couple of mile radius, at least, which would, for all practical purposes destroy the city.

It depends on the strength of the explosive and prevailing winds.
A "dirty bomb" is just a conventional explosive that spreads radioactive material like shrapnel.
So, a pipe bomb would have a radius of a few hundred yards at most, while something much larger could have a radius of several miles.

a mile or so. contamination woudl not be very bad though. it wouldn't kill anyone. It would mostly just scare people.
