Sure, he'll look like a genius! That is, assuming history books report all of the truth and none of the politics, which you know will never happen. Even if his choices end up turning out for the better someday, someone's going to say he was terrible for no other reason than that he was an evil conservative. My suggestion for YOU, since you clearly disagree with your boss, is to agree to disagree -- it isn't worth losing that trust, or indeed your job.

As long as historians don't care about your rights and freedoms
- Patriot Act.
or about fiscal responsibility
- 9 trillion dollars of debt, and counting.
Or about government corruption
- too many to mention.
Domestic issues
- Disaster response, urban ghettos, crumbling schools and other infrastructure etc.

How does your boss know he secured an oil supply? Are people saying that that is what this war is about?
There's speculation that if it heats up in Iran oil is zooming over $100 a barrel. And it's likely the US will be entrenched militarily in the mid east for many years.
Genius, really?

The ends justify the means? Your boss sounds about as christian as bush. Tons of innocents dead, tons of not so innocent soldiers perished is all okay as long as we have more oil. Despite the fact that we do not need more oil, we are killing for this easy energy supply. We have tons of alternatives but they are expensive to build the infrastructure to harvest the energy. We need alternative energy. And who's greater good are we talking about. Americans? How are we so much more deserving than the rest of the world that we can kill for a cheaper ride? No Bush will never go down in the history books as a genius. Maybe by your boss's logic Cheney will. Either way looks look at history. Let's look at a great American president Andrew Jackson. He killed off a people. It was his decision to intigate the Trail of Tears. Today what do we know him as? A murderer. The president of genocide. Bush will be known as the president who killed a people for money like a paid whore.

The Bush presidency will likely receive very favorable coverage. Don't know about the oil part, though, as alternative sources of energy will likely replace oil anyway. Bush has set a number of important precedents that future Presidents (Democrat & Republican) will build on, but not give much credit to Bush-but history will.

But history will credit him with actions initiated for the War on Terror, and Bush will be the first to be credited with real efforts to stabilize the Middle East by sending troops there, as opposed to diplomacy which resulted in "important and historic handshakes" that got nothing done.

Bush will also be credited with actions he took to recover the economy from the collapse of the stock market after the recession that started in Clinton's last months and extended further after 9/11. These are just some of the things that history will remember Bush for.

Nixon is seen as the comeback kid of the 20th century. Watergate is a big thing, but his shaping of foreign policy and his activity after leaving the White House adds to his aura. He advised President Reagan on foreign policy and history greatly respects Nixon.

History is turning sour on Clinton, however. Measured against Bush, Clinton's "legacy" is already diminishing over time over impeachment and then failure to protect the country adequately to prevent 9/11. Clinton cannot get away from that.

I cannot think of choices that other past presidents have made which compare to Bush's.

A lot of his moves on security which cut into our civil liberties compare with some things that FDR and Lincoln did but those things are viewed as the WORST aspects of their presidencies. As for the war - the united states has never initiated a war of agression against a foreign country before, so what to compare to?

Personally, I don't care what history has to say in 75 yrs, because I'll be dead and gone. The advantage any President has is that over time, people forget how bad any one President was during his era. If I'm alive in 25 yrs or 30 yrs, I will still consider Bush the worst President ever.

Glad I don't work where you do. I can't even begin to image history will have good things to say about President Bush. As an Independent I could care less which party is in power, I want competent people, period. This President is not only incompetent, he is dishonest, immoral and fiscally out of control. History has spun bigger fables but that won't help his legacy.

I understand his thinking...and he may well be right. The history books have an interesting way of presenting facts. What I hope will be recorded is the lack of support he currently has - among the American people, and even his own party. I hope that there will be mentions of his misrepresentation of the reason for invading Iraq.

Dictator Dumbya was NEVER elected and therefore can't rightly claim the title you give him. The premise of your question is also problematic in that it assumes that the USA exists at that time, recovering in 75 years from the damage that Dumbya did.
