Go to ABE books on the web and type in your title and author. When you get to the extensive listing of copies available for sale, compare your copy (copywrite date, publisher, condition, description, etc.) with the books on the list and this should give you a pretty good idea of how rare your book is and about how much it is worth. Good luck!

Sorry John but it's probably not going to be worth much.

The Prophet was first published in 1928 and has been reprinted several times. There was a revival of interest in the 1960's when there were numerous reprints.

First edition copies aren't that hard to come by. When The Prophet first went to press Gibran was already an established author, poet and artist so the initial print-run would have been quite sizeable.

There are some of his books that include hand drawn illustrations and these can be worth quite a bit on the open market (not sure how much as it's a while since any were traded that I know of).

If it's a first edition in good condition it may be worth something but sadly not a great deal - take it to a reputable book dealer and ask their opinion.

Go to a "used bookstore" and ask their opinion.
