Anybody that knows what they are talking about knows that it was the NYFD members that were the real heroes.

Giuliani was just in the wrong place at the right time.

Giuliani was invited to speak for the International Association of Firefighters recently. It was a chance for him and other presidential candidates to "sell" themselves to our union. He declined. Giuliani has all but abandoned the rescue workers from 9/11 saying it would simply cost the city too much money to treat their injuries and respiratory illnesses. Hmm, sounds like an a$$hole to me. He was very much like a dictator when he was in office. I'd hate to see him in the White house.

That moron made 7WTC his command center after the '93 attacks, and while the complex was the highest value targets on the planet.

Yes the NYFD and NYPD were the true heroes of 9-11.

He is no hero. He was just on camera a lot which helped make him appear heroic.
When there had been the first bombing of the WTC in 1993, recommendations had been made to him on how to improve security, response by first responders etc. At the time of the second bombing and ultimate destruction of the twin towers MOST of the recommendations were NOT implemented, yet he was heralded as this great mayor. People do your homework, don't believe the hype.
Also listen to how he treated the fire fighters after 9/11, especially from the President of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
People have that memorable image-Rudy among the ruins- this hides a multitude of sins: in the event of a terrorist attack, Giuliani should have been directing police, fire and emergency services from the city's high-tech underground emergency management center; unfortunately, Giuliani had insisted that that secure center be located at the World Trade Center along with a diesel fuel truck which was against the advise of FDNY.
During the attacks, because the command center was rendered inoperable, NYC had no clear chain of command and no physical command structure in place to coordinate the emergency response. Frankly, the whole reason Giuliani was on television all day and available for interviews was because he was scrambling around the streets trying to set up a command post since the one he had designed and located was paralyzed during the attacks.
Political infighting between police and fire departments went unchecked, preventing coordination between first responders, and Giuliani's rush to return New York to business as usual (fearing that Wall Street might relocate) may have seriously impaired the health of returning workers and residents
How can we continue to treat this man as a hero when fireifghters were looking for their brethren and he said no and took some of the debris which contained bodies to fix holes in the streets of New York, ( I am not making this up)

Yep, he coordinated everything all right. It was his idea to set up a command post in the World Trade Center. Very smart man. Your premises is on the money about him being in the wrong place at the right time.

On 9-10, Giuliani was a despised politician with a dubious reputation. On 9-11, he hitched a ride on the emotions of Americans and camouflaged his true self by taking credit for things he did not do.

because there were no abortions reported that day, and Giuliani is pro abortion, and the Conservative Republi-cant Party has to coverup something again. So they brush everything under the 911 tragedy that they created.

I'm from NYC and know. Rudy did nothing but go to photo ops to resurrect his political career after 9/11.

Emergency services orchestrated the clean-up. Rudy did nothing. We all went back to work the next day anyway on 9/12.

I think in times like those, everyone looks for heroes. They need them. And Guiliani was the most likely candidate, as he was strong and rallied the city.

Sadly, his hero status is badly placed. He had already experienced one WTC bombing, yet he still located headquarters in that building. He did nothing heroic at all, but his face was the photo op.

His candidacy is a real concern for many in the Democratic Party.

Rightly or wrongly, he is perceived as a true leader as a result of his actions that day.

Seems to me all he did after 9/11 was praise socialist enterprises like the NYPD and the NYFD.

For those that might need a definition, a socialist enterprise is one owned and operated by the government.
