I only tip waiters and regular bartenders normally. I would probably only tip a barista if conditions were arranged to make it seem as though I should tip. For instance, if the tip jar is prominently displayed. In addition to this, the price of the goods would have to be reasonable or services would have to be outstanding. Outstanding service basically means being very nice and making sure I have everything I need and being friendly...If I am treated like I am in a Kinko's there is no way I would tip no matter how prominent the sign is displayed. Also, if I were given something for free I might tip, or if the person behind the counter shared my interests or was willing to listen to me, like a friend, I might tip...

If I have to pay more than $1 for a plain cup of joe I certainly do not tip. If I buy some specialty drink for over $3 bucks I don't tip, but I don't buy those either. I only tip waitresses who get paid like $3 an hour and rely on tips. I don't tip counter servers. I might tip a regular server that has been exceptionally kind/helpful during the holidays, or someone who gave me free stuff to be nice or to make up for a mistake they made.

We have taking the fun out of tipping.
Everywhere I go there is a tips cup. Every counter. All the time. It is o.k. But, it should not be expected.
A tip was supposed to given when someone did more than just an adequate job. It gave people a chance to thank you with money.
Now at he bottom of receipts it says "you should tip between 15 - 25 %." What the..???
I used to love to big give tips.....but now it seems to be just expected , regardless of service.
We should go back to the old guide of 15% good service.
20 % great service .....or more $$ and tell the why .................
to crappy service gets a note saying you wanted to tip them but......

Almost 100% never.
But if I go in there a couple times a week i'll put a few extra dollars in a tip jar on Friday.
once i gave 10 bucks tip to Jamba Juice, because I was in there 3+ times a week for 2 weeks... so that merits a tip.
but I will say, i'm more likely to tip when i know them on a first name basis.

Sometimes I do. Typically I don't though. They are located inside the grocery store where I work and I don't feel the need to have to tip them since I don't have the opportunity to collect tips in my department. Sorry, but I provide a service to customers too by keeping my department stocked with fresh produce. When I tip them it's because they are my friends and co-workers.

If you see these people everyday and your coffee is specific and delightful and you won't be able to function for the rest of the day without it, SURE! Not too much. A buck if it's incredible. A compliment is a great tip too.

i never tip at coffee shops. the coffee already is a complete rip off, i mean if i'm paying 3-5 dollars for a drink i'm probably not going to spend even more money tipping them.
i've never really thought to though, because i never see tip cups and that's what reminds me to do it at places

I do sometimes, but only when they're polite and give me a good service.
I know is bad but sometimes they do a good job but I just don't have the money to tip so i don't. ( they charge a lot for the coffee (like starbucks)) so that's why I don't do it as often as I would like to.
