circa means around or an estimated date............so when you see the word circa it means an estimation of a date. for example, when kurt cobain died, the media didn't know the exact time and date when he died because they found him dead in his room....so they say his date of death is c. (circa) april 5th, 1994, because thats the date when he most likely died since no one knows for sure
