The fact that you ask this question shows that you do not understand the military at all. I have fought for my country. I have been wounded in battle. I have seen my firends killed. I would gladly give my life to protect the freedoms that I have defended.
Any soldier who would not die for his country, does not deserve to wear the uniform.

While the ideas of freedom and country seem abstract, the fact that we are a free country is not. If people did not die for their ideas there would be no USA. There are people in this world who wish to harm us because we are free, and the abstract idea of freedom must be defended. Many Americans have fought and died for the freedom of this great nation, and deserve to be honored for that. I only wish I had the courage to fight to the death for my beliefs. I cannot honestly say that I would, which only makes me repect the men and women who did, or will do, even more. God bless the men and women in the United States Armed Forces.

I spent 6 years in the US Navy.

This is a silly question, because captured POW's are usually held in camps, and only the weak ASK to join the other side. Then they are usually shot, because the enemy knows that if they are willing to trade country for life, chances are they have such a weak moral center, that they would backstab them in the end. Why take the chance?

Hell yeah I would die for my country! I wouldnt be a true citizen if I werent willing to do so.

If I were given the option of turning against the very country that gave me all the freedoms in which I have, I would go out in a "blaze of glory!"

Yes, I would. I spent 23 years in the military, and knew that if there was a war, there was a chance that I might be killed.

Under no circumstances would I join the enemy though. If you go into the military, they will drill that into your head by the time you're out.

IF I'm fighting and killing people for the right reason , I would not stop until the job is dun. and that means to be executed then so be it ,never give up, never just give in to save your own hide, you in this for a true reason , that's it that's all, you joined the armed forces with the knowledge that you ARE joining to give your life for your country then suffer what will come and be proud, and do what you said you would do , that's it that's all, Ty for ask'n

Yes, I would die for my country. Honestly. You can't go back on your beliefs because you are afraid to die. Fear should not be a motivating factor. I wish I could fight for our country but my husband is active duty and I've got to stay home with the little one!

It would depend upon the circumstances of the war. If I was on US soil and the enemy was here, I'd fight for the USA. It is unlikely I would ever go overseas and fight for some other country unless I was directly affected by their actions. I wouldn't fight for Iraq, for example and I wouldn't go to Iraq to fight for the USA because it's not my business. 9/11/01 happened here on US soil and that's my business!!!!

17 years as a U.S. Marine....and I can honestly say: YES.

Oddly enough, I hear of people dying:

- to keep their car from being stolen.

- to keep their house from being robbed.

- to keep their "territory" from being walked on by another gang (neither of which OWN the territory)

- because they just can't live without "the girl/boy they love.."

- because they want to get high(er)

- because they thought they could handle driving home after drinking copius amounts of alcohol

- because they REALLY wanted that WII, so they drank 2 gallons of water to the point of water intoxication

- because they thought going really fast in their car on a crowded highway was cool (but seat belts aren't)

I promised to give up my life for freedom....
....however I will never give up my freedom for anything.

Besides, my faith and belief is this life isn't the end...the best is yet to come...

Good luck, God speed and Semper Fidelis

I'll try to make them think I'm on there side at first. If they take there eyes off me for a split second I'll make a run for it. If they catch me then I guess you can say I died for my country. I couldn't see myself hurting my own so I guess I'll be gone before it gets that far, Either escaped or dead.
