Okay, there is this hall monitor guy at my high school. Every time I walk past him, he always stares at me (I see him do it out of the corner of my eye). I am really, really grossed out because this guy is forty-some odd years old. Am I being paranoid? What should I do because it is really really bugging me? I don't want to tell a different teacher or something because they might think that I was just overreacting or something. What should I do?? Please, any serious suggestions would help!

Look him right in the eye and say If i catch you leering at me any more my cousins Dimitri & Igor are going to remove your fingers...one at a time.
Have a couple big muscular russian guys with leather jackets on behind you posturing.

Ok, here is what I would do.
One, I would ask as many females as I could if they have ever noticed this guy staring at any of them.
Second, I would have a few girls and guys walk with me, and see if he still stares and if they notice it, and get their take on how it makes them feel when he stares at you. Is he just staring or is he ogling?
If the majority say he is harmless, let it go, but still keep an eye out (you never know nowadays)
You might even enlist a teacher you trust.
But if the majority or even most think he is creepy, or it is not just normal staring at someone, then I think a trip to the principal is in order. I would also inform my parents. The advice about asking about background checks is good, too.

First, you are not paranoid. What you have is situational awareness and that is how you stay out of trouble and away from problems. His behavior could range from innocent leering to seriously planning some sort of advance or abduction (I don't want to MAKE you paranoid, but this is remotely possible.) I would do the following.
Go the the school office and ask them if all personnel have had criminal checks through the police department. That is a start. Where do you think a child molester would seek employment. Duh ... where they have kids. Mention this to someone you trust, a teacher or counselor and have them check. You radar is picking something up, so don't let it go. Check on it.
Good luck,
Dr. J

If he makes you feel uncomfortable you have a right to say something to someone that is in authority. If he is doing this to you, he is probably doing this to other people as well. I'm sure if you asked some of your other girl friends, they will probably tell you the same is happening to them. This person may not be the type of person that should be working with teenage children.

Your instinct is telling you something is wrong. You're not paranoid, then again, most likely he's harmless. Best to avoid him, if possible, because he will sense your unease and may misinterpret it. If possible walk passed him with a male friend or just take another route. Whatever do you, however, avoid eye contact and don't talk to him even though most likely he's harmless.

I think you should just totally ignore him, 0r give him the evil eye and let him know that you know he's staring hopefully he'll take a hint and leave off.

Stare back.
Tell him to take a picture.
A squirt gun might be effective. :P
