Lie. Many important people in history have used drugs and many more will. I don't see experimenting with drugs as a youth as something bad in a person today. If they are honest, I don't really care. If they lie, then they are lying to me about something I don't care about. And that means they will definitely lie about something I do.

The worst thing a candidate could do is lie. The press, with its muckraking ways, will find out whatever they want to know, so if you did drugs, your best bet is to just out with it. Even if it costs you the election, you will be known as having told the truth. I mean, "I didn't inhale"? Why would you smoke a joint at all, if you weren't going to inhale? Not only is that really weaselly, but it assumes the IQ of the audience to be in negative integers.
