I wouldn't bother. To each his own.

Isn't that already the problem with "believers" on either side of the God debate - that they constantly try to convince one another that their view is true and correct? Whether or not I agree with their argument, these people are annoying. The annoyance comes in their methods of persuasion, that they are so pushy. What if I don't care about the truth? What if I've found something that works for me, and I'm not hurting anybody - in fact, am a pretty decent human being? Why can't we just leave each other the hell alone? Believe what you want to believe, as long as your a responsible global citizen?

Your question doesn't make any sense to me. The only thing effective persuasion, aka convincing, requires is a good argument, one that resonates with the listener (it doesn't even have to be true - just resonant). If it is still necessary to "convince" somebody of something, there is no magic needed. It's not relevant. All you'd need to do is figure out what is important to the listener and play to that in your argument.

You may as well be asking, "If magic brought it about that everyone on the planet would pull their head out of their anus, would we all believe the same thing(s) or realize the capital T-Truth?" Now THAT'S a question.

I've got an answer for that one, too: Doubtful. Every village has its idiots... and these days, there seem to be more and more of them.

If I had any magic powers, I'd use it to end the God debate altogether.

It doesn't matter whether I believe he exists or doesn't. That argument has slaughter thousands over the course of history along with how one goes about interpting his teachings. But if I had this magical ability, I would do nothing. For those that belief in God, we were given free will to FREELY choose whether we wanted to follow in his teaching or not, so if I had this ability I would be taking away one of the gifts God gave us.
Also I a believed that God did not exist, what would be the point in forcing everyone to beleive that? There really is no point. A true aethiest does not care about whether another person believes in god or not. A true aethiest does not waste their time trying to convert Believers into Nonbelievers.

I used to think the same way a lot of the answers here do..." If they are living a good life and trying to be a good person, then whats the harm?"

The harm is influence. Religion is not just a coping mechanism for our own death anymore. It's influence is effecting every aspect of EVERYONE'S lives. When you fight to teach creationism instead of evolution, that is no longer holding your own beliefs true and live and let live....its trying to "con" people to your way of thinking.

What if I die tomorrow from a disease that could be cured by now with stem cell research that was denied because of your religious beliefs? Other peoples beliefs are effecting ME on a daily basis. That is the problem with religion.

If you need more proof than that then look at the idiots blowing themselves up everyday for their religion. In their mind they are doing great things. Does that make it alright? But how can you say it's not? It's their RELIGION!

To answer your question, If I had the ability to clear the minds of everyone in a instant, I would do it as fast as possible. So that maybe we could finally put all our differences behind us and enter into this new age of technology exploding all around us as one humanity with everyone's best interests in mind.

If God did not exist, I would magically convince everyone that he didn't to see if people are better off without Him.

Which God?
Why would you want to destroy the hopes of billions of people?
First of all, If you believe in the "Big Bang," then let me bring to surface some information you might find horrindous. If we all did start from a Big Bang, then every action and thought process is purely a result of evolution; and thus, you ahve no free will, but instead you are governed COMPLETELY by the laws of physics. And the laws of physics clearly states that the universe will keep growing in entropy, until finally there will be no more work capable, and thus, an end to the universe (in a sense because the atoms will still be there, but they are completely useless because they cannot perform work)
And Secondly, Religion in general is a better way of looking at life. I know I rather believe that I have Free Will than to think that every action of mine was already pre-goverened by the laws of physics.
And just to clarify, the Christian God does not know the *future* like you might think, but instead, He knows all. Your life is not completely planned out (that would defeat the purpose of free will), but istead, God has made a perfect plan for you to follow (a plan that will lead you to what your trying to acheive by your own selfishis means; undilluted existential happniess) but it is your CHOICE to follow it or not.
So to conclude, Your question is based on negative energy, why would you want to post a question with a negative answer as the only possibility? - Keep it PLUR (peace love unity respect) Happy Hardcore/NRGY music rocks!

I'd wave the magic wand and open people's eyes from every organized religion! They'd then see all the spilt blood and hatred in the name of god or allah or whoever all throughout history was a collosal waste. They all wonder how they ever let themselves be brainwashed like that, by just being told what to believe by their parent or priest. Suddenly everyone would be able to think for themselves, decide for themselves, and the vast majority would finally understand it's all bunkum and learn TRUE spirituality. I wish I wish.

I would tell everyone on the planet that if they didn't send me a dollar I would use this ability to disprove to them whatever they currently believe to be true.
Wow how mean.
Better yet if they send me two dollars I will prove to them what they currently believe!
Maybe I could put it up for BID.. HIGHEST BIDDER GETS TO DECIDE...
Not really, I would of course only convince the entire world of whatever the truth is. (providing I really did know the Truth; otherwise I'd just keep my big mouth shut)

Well God does exist & even if he didn't I would not want to deprive people of their faith. Believing in God is a positive thing. It's like meditation or positive thinking. Hey, if it works, what harm can it do? If it gives people structure in their lives, if it gives them hope, if it gives them something to aspire to (God being the ultimate goodness), if it helps them to get through tough times, then where is the harm? It is life-affirming to be spiritual. I believe everyone needs God in some form. If you don't want to call Him/her/it God (or Allah or Buddha) then call it Nature, Goodness, Benevolent ball of energy, Disembodied sense of hope, Your own inner positive voice, Collective Conscience. Whatever works for you! There is more to life than we can see & feel. Anyone who doesn't believe that isn't paying any attention. Go stand on a clifftop & look out over the pines. Watch the sun rise over a lake & feel the wind on your face. Soak in the beauty of the earth until it overwhelms you & you feel like your heart may break...then tell me there is no God.

Look at any work of art. It didn't just happen. An artist created it. I take a blank canvas & fill it. Something created the universe & everything within it. Some being, some great artist created beauty out of nothingness.

Anyway, I won't try to convert an atheist.

The bottom line is, live a good life, be a good person. Whatever works for you. Whatever gets you through.

Peace out.
:)

If I had the ability to give any amount of people any amount of knowledge and truth, I would take it. That's why I spend so much time answering questions on Yahoo!Answers (magic would be a real time-saver... I'll have to look into that).
