I have a tendancy to access my gmail account through my Google homepage and believe I'm wasting valuable time by also using Outlook Express. Due to the fact I don't remain consistent it seems I'm doing alot of repetitive work. I'm only using the one account so until I add another email account isn't using Outlook Express redundant.

The only, only true advantage of using Outlook Express (or Outlook or Thunderbird or Eudora or what-have-you) is that you can look at email on your lil'ol' computer while yer *not* connected to the internet. (Some may say, if you're paranoid, too, you may get some advantage of security by knowing your downloaded email is less open to some smart hacker's prying eyes because it's down safe on your computer instead of lying around on Google's or, say Yahoo!s server.)

The *vast* advantage, I say, of Google (or even, say, Yahoo! or msn or any of the several others) is that you can get to your email, on the road, without toting your computer along.

If you use Thunderbird(better than Outlook Express) you have more format options but if you·re on broadband your best option is to use Yahoo Mail (Gmail is OK)on your browser. Many people think the best browser is Firefox and I tend to agree with that.

Don't use Outlook Express - it makes you dependent on a Microsoft
product and therefore more likely to get viri.

You have more room on your hard drive for personal folders to store email than you do on the website.
Your .PST folders store on your computer and not your space on the web
