I agree in part with Bulabate. His is the best reply.
If America is so poor then why are millions illegally running to America?
Now if there were millions fleeing from the United States then you might have a point, but that ain't happenin and you do not have a point.
The United States claims to be the only SUPER POWER and in case you haven't noticed there are no contenders.
If you are of United States citizenship then you come from an inferior country.

I understand america has a very large divide between rich and poor, so the overall wealth of the country can be very high while at the same time there is a lot of poverty.
And that poverty will not go away if more wealth comes to america it will only go away through better sharing of the wealth america has.

One reason is obvious like the majority of answers telling you how great every thing is one might think they are deaf/dumb/blind totally ignorant of the levels of poverty in USA nationwide! Everyone turns a blind eye to the homeless/working poor/disabled or disenfranchised etc. Then they bad mouth them when one speaks out or ask for help! The easy way out is the ignoring by the huge group of hypocrites some claiming to be good Christians! I think NOT and Jesus would bring all of them out of poverty & sickness etc. When you see people hide/cheat/cover-up they are evil & most likely will be judged accordingly! Earthman it ain't just illegal immigration it is also legal immigration hurting the working class. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5871651411393887069

I don't know where you got your stats, but I don't believe it. The reason that many parts of the US look like third world countries is that 12 to 28 million illegal immigrants and their "anchor baby" children are living in the US. That is about 10% of our 300 million population. Plus we let in many poor immigrants every year. When you have that many third world immigrants in a country, then large parts of you countrty look llike a third world country.
We need to deport most of the illegal aliens in this country, build a border fence across the US/Mexico border, and decrease the number of legal immigrants to about 200,000 a year in order to assimilate those who are already here.

i think it depends where your living. i really doubt that 90% is "second world." and i thought i heard that we had the highest number of college degrees in most developed countries. and the national health care is actually a good thing. look at the economies of countries that pay for everyones health care, most are close to collapse and others it take about 6 months, literally, to see a doc.

I suggest you go visit mexico, or sudan, somalia, or any other third world country then you will see the true meaning of poverty. What do you suggest higher taxes? amnesty for illegal immigrants? and reward people in this country who refuse to work and pay their fair share of taxes with an endless amount of welfare? You should call Bono he likes to talk a good game also about poverty but he doesn' t put his money where his mouth is either.

haha, he wants national health care. apparently he doesnt make any money, because if he did he would not want the incredibly high taxes that would entail. apparently crime is not rampant enough, as this moron lived long enough to complain without being shot.
