You have to be careful massaging feet and back of the heels since certain reflex points can trigger a miscarraige or other things. Go to a massage therapist who specializes in pregnancy massage and bodywork because they will know what to do so they don't cause early labor or a miscarriage

A friend of mine who was an asthetician once told me that pregnant women in their last trimester couldn't have their feet and ankles massaged because it works pressure points that can actually induce labor. I've not heard anything about no body massages in the first trimester though.

I am hoping that she told the massage person she is pregnant. There is a certain spot on your ankles that if rubbed will put you in labor. They usually ask you on the permission slip before you get a massage if you are pregnant. I got a massage every week when I was pregnant and she just didnt rub that part and my baby was healthy as can be and while she was in my tummy and I got massaged she would move all around cause she enjoyed it just as much as I did.

I think it depends on what kind of massage she got. With my last baby, my OB/GYN office actually offered massages to us pregnant ladies. If you're worried about it, maybe have her check into her OB/GYN office or even in your local yellow pages for someone who specializes in and offers that sort of thing. Most women can maintain their normal activities throughout the 1st trimester as long as there are no health risks. I'm pretty sure she shouldn't be doing any heavy lifting - so you should take care of trash night and give her a hand bringing in the groceries!!:) Just make sure she gets plenty of rest and lots of healthy food and lots to drink. Spoil her now and read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on about pregnancy, babies, childbirth, etc. Americanbaby.com and babytalk.com offer free magazine subscriptions for expecting parents. You should try that too.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I'm certain that she checked with the massage place before she scheduled her massage and that they gave her the okay to come in. Massage in your first trimester is not inherently a bad thing......
Relax and enjoy your wife's pregnancy.....
Congratulations!

I think this early on she should be ok. They do have massages specially designed for pregnant women, but I believe that's further along. Just tell her she needs to check with her doctor before doing these things now. Her body is not just hers now.

I honestly think she would benefit from it....especially the farther along she gets. I don't see any harm in the baby, the baby might like it too =) here is a website I found listed below so you can read into things more. Congratulations are in order here!!!

I heard you have to wait for a while...I'm in my first tri. and I'm going to wait until at least 6 months...Also no dying of the hair or fake nails, it can harm the baby with the smells, and fumes. Also do not allow her to be around Kitty poop, or change the kitty litter...I have a book on all the do's and donts for every weeek of pregnancy, my doctor gave it to me..

You should really talk to a doctor, because even if anyone from this site did offer any information to you, you wouldn't be able to trust the source since its your unborn baby you are worried about.
