So many going through my head................a favorite childhood memory would have be the weekends my sisters, brother, cousins, and I spent out at my grandparent's ranch. I remember enjoying being out at the ranch more than anything. We would all ride the pony and horses in the fields, builds forts, play hide and seek in the ditches, swim in the pool, help papa with the chores, ride our bikes, build play traps, and try and catch the lambs out in the field. My grandparents are very loving and easy going, therefore we always had a good time. And after hours and hours of being outside my grandma would have a snack for us inside waiting. Kids don't play outside for hours and hours anymore. So for me I'll always cherish those times and remember how much fun it was to be out at the ranch :)

Yes, that is a nice one!
My favorite is when Daddy would leave the van door open on the way home from the park, beach and lastly Dairy Queen (the van was only open from Dairy Queen, only a minute from home) and we had ice cream, groovy tunes (70's language rocks) on the radio, it was sunset and we visited Grandma then went home, only a few steps away. That was the best. When you pulled up to Grandma's house, she had a tree with low branches that brushed the side of the van - I will always love that sound.

My Grandparents raised me since I was three years old. My Mom and Dad divorced, and (there were three of us) we were divided among the family, because my Mom was not working and she did not have a place to stay. Mom took Neida, the middle child, Aunt Pepita took the oldest, Sonia, and Granpa told my mother that he was taking me home. Now, my Grandparents were Spaniards to the core. Until you are a teen, you have to eat on a table away from the main dinning room, drank water down wine, and spoke when spoken to, except when GrandPa and I were alone or going somewhere, he was man of few words. Until I saw the movie, The Godfather, I did not realize how close it came to depict my Grandpa. The familiy brought their disputes to him, and once a month we had a FAMILY get together. That meant ALL his children, ALL TWELVE (six and six), their wives/husbands, and children came to his house. One rule stuck out in my mind, I could hear Grandma telling them, don;t forget to leave your dispiutes at the front gate. A feast to please the eyes.
The other rule was, I could not wear long pants until I celebrated my thirteens birthday. Imagine having to go to elementary school for six years, and never once wore long pants! It got worse, went to a Catholic Academy, for one year, then on to Junior High, still wearing short pants. I learned at an early stage of my life about using my fists, and defending my honor, every time some kid said anything about my short pants. So my favorite and most relished memory I have is when I woke up on my thirteens birthday morning, went to get dressed to go to school, and Lo and Behold, all my short pants had been replaced by long pants!!! My elation continued all day long at school, as everyone by now accustomed to my short pants, gave me hugs, all the girls were smiling at me in a different way!!! It got even better, because at dinner time, my little table and chair by the kitchen door, had disappeared! There was a chair right next to Grandpa's head of the table chair, and Grandma had placed a sign with my name of it!!!

My fondest and favorite memory from childhood? The day of my THIRTEENS birthday, my whole life changed!!!

My earliest memory is at 9 months old. I would sit on my grandfathers lap and play with the hair on his arms. He had a black leather lazy boy and to this day whenever I smell leather it brings me back to that time.
