hi i am 23 weeks pregnant with my second child and would really like to learn more about hypnobirthing. I spoke to a hypnotherapist but sessions would run me about $100/hour and she wants me to do 4 sessions. Has anyone had positive experiences with this? Negative? Could i do it on my own or do i NEED the assistance of a professional in order to do it successfully?

hpnobirthing uses hypnosis to reduce discomfort and pain (and in some eliminate it all together), achieving a deep state of relaxation as well as improve mood and attitude during labor and childbirth. (description from What to Expect When you are expecting)

I have the impression you want natural childbirth with a minimum of pain. Check out the Bradley method. I used the Bradley method with all four of mine. I had no pain medicine. I have had hunger pains before that were worse than labor. Look for the book, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. 95% of those who use Bradley method do not need pain medication. Only 5% or less have a c-sec.
