Hi Carrie,
I don't know how old you are, how long you were together, or anything about you, but losing someone who leaves you can be harder than when someone dies.
Many times people hang on to what they've lost, thinking or hoping the one will come back.
Others feel it's all their fault, even if it's not their fault at all.
When you hang on to what is past, you're robbing yourself of life, and all it has to offer. There really is no "one" person that will be all that we wish or desire, although it feels that way sometimes.
It will take a positive decision on your part to overcome what you're putting yourself through. Running out to find someone else is never good. You'll find them when you should, but meantime, live your life, do things you like, just for you. Volunteering in organizations who help others is a good way to put your own pain and loss into a more manageable perspective.
You will recover if you make the decision to stop letting this other person control your life, and know he's not sitting around worrying about you, don't give what you have to offer to someone who isn't worth it...know that you are worthy of someone who cares.

Well...you can either let it control you and your life, be lonely and miserable for the rest of it or you can make the effort to move on and live it. Hey, you may find someone that will make you happier than your husband did. You won't ever find out if you sit and stew over the divorce, wonder why he left or fantasizing about him and what is going on in his life. You will only make yourself sick emotionally as well as physically. Move on and enjoy life while you can girl. He obviously has. Don't give him the satisfaction that your life is destroyed by what he did to you.

Honey, get over him and move on. I may be getting a divorce and I am already preparing to move on and we have been together for 12 years. He obviously has gone on with his life so now it is time for you to do the same. You will find love again, I promise !

It's easy for people to say get over it and move on with your life. But since it has been 3 years and you are still struggling with him leaving you, you may need counseling to help yourself begin a new life.

You start taking care of yourself, and making your life more than what any one person gives you. Standard operating procedure: start exercising, eat right, drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep, pursue old hobbies, renew old friendships, build your support network, seek professional assistance, seek spiritual assistance if you are so inclined, start enjoying yourself and controlling your own life.
