The way that we (as regular people not scientists) think of sound, is that sound is something that is HEARD. So if you are defining sound in that way, then no...it does not make a sound. The connection between the sound waves and someones ears was not completed.
However, scientists and engineers use a wider definition of sound that includes low and high frequency vibrations in air that cannot be heard by humans, and even vibrations that travel through all forms of matter. So in that case, yes a sound is made.

Why do people keep asking this question? I must have seen it at least three hundred times in the last little while.
A sound will happen whether or not anyone hears it. To think that there would not be a sound if noone hears is is ego in the 'nth' degree.

Yes. Eventhough nobody is there to observe the sound. A tree falling to the ground would definately make some noise.

Yes. The falling tree makes sound. Sound doesn't have to be heard to exist.

Of coure it made noise. Just because no one heard it doen't mean there wasn't a sound. A tree is hard and solid. Also, if the tree wasn't so big, the noise probably wouldn't have been so great.

A sound being an organized vibration of air (gaseous) molecules: yes; a sound being a perception by a human bean, then by your statement "no-one", NO. Somewhere-in-between, what if an ANIMAL is there to hear it? Do plants hear? Insects?

You'll have to ask Noone, obviously he heard it. If Noone weren't there, and the forest had no other population, then you might think that no one heard it.

There are sound waves. But if there is no one to hear it with an ear, then there is no sound, only the sound waves.
