I just found out that that he is originally from Australia. I was just in love with him as a teenager. Poor guy, he was trying to escape the image that I and my age group heavily contributed to. I used to watch him on GH, and he didn't have an accent from what I can remember.

When I've seen him on tv show interviews or just recently on some infomercial, he didn't have an accent
If he was born in Australia but moved here when he was little than that would explain why he has no accent...or he could be like the actor, Julian McMahon (from Nip/Tuck as Christian Troy or Charmed as Cole Turner/Belthazor) who is also from Australia but learned how to get rid of his Aussie accent.

No, he sounds like an American. It surprises me that Mel Gibson doesn't have an Aussie accent either.

He moved to this country as a young adult during the 1970s. After living here for a long time, he learned to talk with an American accent. He actually became a US citizen in 2006
