It has a whole bunch of letters what do they mean? Like the letters on the right side of the memorial say "FG". And under the date it says "D". And below lincolns right arm it has the letters "VDB".

FG are the initials of the sculptor who made the memorial to put on the penny, full name is Frank Gasparro. Under the date is the mint mark, D means it was made at the denver mint. VDB are the initials of the sculptor who created the head of lincoln to be engraved onto the penny, whose full name is Victior D. Brenner

VDB stands for Victor D. Brenner, the designer of that penny. If you ever find a penny dated 1909, on the front, and it has an S next to the 1909 (meaning it was minted in San Francisco) and it has the VDB, then you've got one o' them rare-as-heck pennies that'll garner you a cool buck among coin collecters!)
