I hope that your question is rhetorical. It should be obvious to anyone who pays any attention to world events that the United States doesn't care a bit about human rights or democracy or fighting terrorism. The US is the world's largest terrorist, the world's largest exporter of WMD, the world's most dangerous rogue nation which ignores both its own and international law at will, and the only nation in human history which has used nuclear weapons (against not armies, but civilian populations, no less), and continues to disregard any attempts to limit or curtail their use, except by others. US foreign aid is positively correlated with state-sponsored terrorism: we support brutal regimes where there is money to be made, and destroy and subvert democratic governments the world over when they make moves which appear to our so-called leaders (read corporations) that might benefit of their own populations instead of foreign business interests, because of the bad example that they might set for others under the domination of the US corporate-led mercenary forces (read the US military). The war in Vietnam, despite all the rhetoric to the contrary, was fought for precisely this reason. It was thought that if a backward, dirt-poor country like Vietnam could extricate itself from colonial domination (first French, then American), then other nations of the world likewise plagued might get the idea that they could do it, too. The Saudi royal family is supported by the US precisely because it keeps the population there from effecting any change in the power structure that robs the people of the revenue of their resources, and rewards the jail-keepers who keep the rabble in line.

Because the terrorists belonged to Al Qaeda, not the Saudi government. They may have been of Saudi nationality but they were trained in Afghanistan and supported by the Taliban. That's why we got rid of the Taliban.
Al Qaeda is now operating in Iraq... blowing up innocent civilians and attempting to destabilised the country and ruin the economy. That's why coalition forces operating under a UN mandate are there... or don't you want to see democracy restored to the people of Iraq?
You can't hold a nation responsible for the independent criminal acts of it's citizens.
It's true that the Saudi regime is not the most ideal, particularly in it's treatment of women and non-muslims and other abuses of human rights but there are many far-worse regimes around (Zimbabwe, North Korea, Iran, etc etc)

Our real target should be Iran, but our military is stretched too thin. I've been medically discharged from the military, so I won't be called back. So, everyone enjoy the draft that will be coming back sometime this century!!! (especially if democrats win the presidency and weaken our military further)
Anyways, if you think you have all the answers and can make sense of this mess, then you're delusional. I have to remind myself that this also applies to me any time I start to believe that sense can be made out of senselessness. There is no perfect solution to this crisis. The only way to succeed in the long run is to win more than we lose, and if we do nothing, we have already accepted defeat.
The US definitely has many faults; however, those that continually badmouth our country and government have that right because of our military. Try badmouthing some other governments of the world as a citizen and they'll physically shut you up. So, go live with your brother Osama if you hate the US so much, or go live with a leader like Tony Blair who won't even put up a fight.

The hijackers might have been from Saudi arabia, but they didn't have the backing of the Saudi government. They were backed by the Afghan government.
Also, Saudi Arabia is an oil-rich ally. They might need liberation and democracy, but there's little chance they'll get it until the oil runs out.

Because nothing about 9/11 makes sense besides what we see.... We seen a plane hit a building and then it fell down...killed a bunch of people...and we went to war....with....ummm people? A group of terrorists...now we're in a war with...."terror" lol...We invaded Iraq, Afganistan, everyone in the Eastern world hates us even more cuz we are just bouncing around doing nothing but "fighting terror" hahaha its such a joke...Who were we supposed to kill, what was his name...Osama bin what??? No one even remembers him anymore. No one even remembers 9/11 anymore besides the families that suffered...That whole thing was a reason for us to go over there and gain control...thats all. It doesn't matter who did it, and why it was done...Everything that needed to happen, happened.

Don't you guys ever take time to read the newspapers to learn what's going on ? No matter what country most of the ******* were from, they were financed and trained in Iraq.
America has no responsibility or desire to remove brutal regimes, unless the brutal regime finances and trains nuts to damage us.

The Saudis are our allies and Lord Bush's friends.
If 15 Americans flew 4 planes into Islamic sites they'd hold us accountable but they do it to us and we accept them as friends. Something is upside down here.

First, they weren't all from Saudi Arabia. Second, they were not backed by the Saudi government. Third, if we were to go by your logic, we would have to invade every country that has a government different than ours eventually. No logic to that what-so-ever.
