The shock tower simply refers to the part of the car's unibody where the top of the shock absorber is bolted to the car's body. The bottom of the shock is bolted to the upper control arm behind the rear wheel. if you take the wheel off and look at the shock and spring and follow it up you'll see the shock tower. On the Civics the shock towers are in the rear trunk. There is one on each side as you have one rear shock on each side. You may have to pull the carpeting or side panels back or remove a rubber boot to see the actual bolts for the shock, but they are there, typicall in front of the wheel wells.

similarly, you have front strut towers to receive each of the front struts.

hope that answers your question.

sit in the back seat behind the driver, where your left shoulder touches the seat, that plastic right next to it, its in there, most of the rear interior has to come out to gain access to them. if its a coupe you might have panels that pop out to access them.
