How old do you have to be to work in a retail store (like clothing) in Virginia?

It might vary by store, but it's 16 for most places. You might be able to work at 15 for a shorter number of hours.

as far as i know, the legal age to work is 16 in most of the country.

the actual legal term is 14 for the state, but NO ONE will hire you until you are 16
