Well some do understand it but many dont. The fact is that islam is broken up into three main sects in that area. Kurds, sunnis, and shiites. Sunnis have rulled over iraq and most of the middle east for the better part of the century. Since we toppled the sunni rule by killing saddam, the shiites see this as there time of power. iraw is mainly all Shiites, however neigboring iran is Shiite. Iran sends in "insurgents" to help keep the sunni prescence in iraq strong while the shiites are trying to fight for there power.
Well where does america play into this? honestly our entire country is built apon consumption and war. We consume more then we export by a ratio of 5 to 1. So when our most precious consumption "oil" is in a region of war it makes the us Worry. if we cant consume we cant function so this instability has created problems within our economy. We are in the middle of a war that is not our own trying to keep the peace, where both sides hates us for interferring and hate each other at teh same time. When you say pul out now well its a little more complicated than that.

A majority of Americans don't understand it. If they did, then they wouldn't be saying all the negative things they are saying about it. Yeah, so we didn't find WMD's. But that was just one of many many reasons to invade. Yes we are still there after ousting Saddam's regime. But i don't think they realize or remember that part of the plan was to stabilize Iraq after we ousted him. We are still going forward with the mission that was originally layed on the table. People don't realize this. Bush said right from the beginning that this was not going to be a short and easy conflict. But people seem to forget all these important things.

all of it comes right down to individuals getting there practise about the warfare from biased media businesses searching to spice up there rankings. at the same time as became the perfect time all of us talked about an insurrection lack of life toll on the archives? i'm saddened by technique of the particular undeniable reality that u . s . stands for permitting the media to positioned a spin on each little nugget of information they acquire. that is humorous to me that someone can surely imagine that they study about the warfare in Iraq, and Presidential coverage from watching and hour of CNN each nighttime.

I don't think we are doing a whole lot to curb the violence. The US military only controls a small percentage of Baghdad and the rest is basically chaos. So if we leave I don't think there will be much change. But I think we should take our soldiers out of the controlling and occupying role, and use them ALL specifically to find and destroy terrorist organizations within Iraq.

Yeah! Lets keep killing people! That'll fix things!
Not!
What ever happened to minding our own business and defending oneself!
Bring them home and defend this country. If people want to attack us here then so be it! We know how to defend ourselves. We have no right to enter their land as a country.
If we want to 'help' we should do it voluntarily.
America is about freedom. Freedom demands choice.
What choice do Americans have about this 'war'?
We shouldn't be anywhere but here. In America.
Besides, strategically, our presence only gives them a reason to join forces. Leaving would force them to fight amongst themselves.
Let's not give them any more reasons to hate us. It can only get worse.
Our country is more divided all the time. We need to focus on home.

I heard a report, that if we leave, an estimated 1 million will die, and more than 500k will be displaced like a refugee. If you want to keep peace in the middle east, we must stay.

I'm not all that concerned with the murder rate in another country except as it relates to America, and if we leave Iraq now, they'll follow us here and start killing Americans her again

I realize what's going on in Iraq and that's why I can't see us pulling out of there any time soon.

Well, if the Iraqi population is dropping at the rate of several thousand per month (to as much as 10,000 per month by some estimates), it's obvious we're not helping much.
There's no evidence the numbers will increase if we leave, and many reasons to believe the conflict will become less intense if we weren't there to provoke things.

No they dont because of the liberal news media giving only one side of what they want us to know. The military is doing a great job, and should be let to finish the job.
