Maradona.
No doubt about it.
The guy above me who said Maradona was only interested in the money is a MORON. Maradona has never done commercials for credit cards and so on like Pelé has and he has always chosen to play for clubs close to his heart who had no real money (Boca, Napoli) instead of going to the New York Cosmos to cash up on his fame.

pele. Though everyone seems to use the reasoning because maradona cheated, hand of god, and that he did drugs and is now fat and in horrible shape, etc etc. That's not the reason Pele is better. Pele was just better and is better. Maradona was great. I couldn't care less what he did off the football field. He was a great player and fun to watch. But Pele is the greatest ever for the simple fact that he was better than everyone else and an innovator to the game.

In terms of a role model, pele just. Maradona obvo ruined his super star status with drugs, but pele went bankrupt during his carear and sold himself doing adverts to get t money,
Howver down to what matters...football. It has to be Pele, he stood out in a number of Brazil teams that had people who you would of thot could of not been overshadowed a.k.a girincha, he showed loyalty to santos and stayed there not moving to europe for the big money move, he scored in plenty of world cups and tried things that just made you sit up and take notice, e.g letting the ball run 1 way and he ran round the keeper the other way .
Maradona was a fantastic player but he was to intrested in the money, not the football like pele. He was a dribbler not a creator like pele. Some mite prefer diego as he could more show time as he played in europena cups etc but if pele had this opertunity he would of showed mara a lesson or 2.
Finally he scored 1000 goals for his club this at any level is amazing at brazilian leagues at the time were at ther peek, hense he done it against the best .

Cor! I Don't think even THEY can decide.
Maradona's goal in '86 when he made the midfield and defence look pedestrian makes me smile evertime I see it
Pele playing beautifully throughout '70 is a blueprint to how footie should be played
They are both geniuses, whom we've had the pleasure to watch, but i'll put it this way:
I'd have Maradonna giving the lessons and Pele advising!
