It means that I am Loyal to God and Country and that I will obey the laws of the United States of America and defend the USA from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I will be diligent in protecting my rights and privileges and will not be dependent upon or ask the government to do that which I can do for myself. I will not follow blindly behind leaders who do not have the best interests of the country at heart but will do my duty to voice my dissent and work within the laws to change what isn't right. It means that the government doesn't have the right to limit my freedoms except by due process of law and that the government's first order of business is to protect our borders and our citizens from all enemies foreign and domestic. That means that illegal immigrants should be rounded up and considered enemy combatants. I will vote in every election even if I mark "none of the above" on the ballot positions due to the lack of good, qualified candidates.

* The right to speak freely and openly, even if negatively
* The right to vote for the people who lead me
* The right to participate in organizations that interest me or will help the country
*The right to choose my personal life, so long as it does not infringe upon the lives of others
*Economic opportunity: there are many other democracies on this planet, but the ability to find gainful employment and create opportunites for myself has made America distinct
*That my government will do the best it can for ALL the people living here, even the ones the majority deems undesirable (immigrants, Black people, homosexual people, mentally ill, the poor)
*Stability (knowing who my leaders are and having "glorious" revolution: no bloody changing of government, just peaceful)
and this is most important:
HAVING THE RESPONSIBILITY TO WORK FOR AND PROTECT ALL OF THE ABOVE including contributing to the society economically by paying taxes (not avoiding them) and working, giving military service (all the men in my family have served), voting, being active and aware, reading, and just being kind and nice and trying to help my fellow Americans (every day kindnesses like people were during WWII, after 9/11 to victims, and after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita).

God Bless
the U.S.A.

By Lee Greenwood
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

I am no better than anyone else. I am just lucky enough to have been born in the USA. I also have a responsibility to vote and to be of service to my community.
