You won't find a serious answer here, man! These are all Americans!
They tend to be overly patriotic, and they have life so good and comfortable, that they don't care about anything much anymore :(
They care about American Idol, their fast food, flag waving, and making fun of people like you who ask these legitimate questions.
And I agree.. the fact that they voted for Bush TWICE in a row speak volumes for their intelligence and frame of mind...

Don't generalize a whole country based on one individual. I and many other Americans can say the same about other countries. This being said I have been to Europe about 10 times, plus my mother and in-laws are also not from America. So I have had a taste of both US culture & European culture. Why leave America you ask? becasue it is a great country and most people hear love it. Better question why do i go to NYC and see about 1.2 million tourist coming to my town with cameras in aw if the US is so ignorant. Anyway nice question.

I don't understand what you mean. Americans arn't all ignorant to other cultures... and neither is our President. We just place more importance on our own. America also has a mixing pot of cultures... albeit they have been Americanized, so our understanding may be tainted by exposure to those cultures within our borders.
Many Americans don't leave America because a)we place much value on obtaining economic stability, thus work very hard and take fewer vacations than some other cultures. We don't need to leave for education because we have the best secondary education system in the world, and really our country has such a diverse landscape that to see new things you don't really have to leave the country as much.
Don't get me wrong, I do want to visit many places all over the world... but you also have to realize that, with how large our country is, traversing between our states is much like travelling between European countries. It is much harder for us to visit, say, Spain, than it is for someone who lives in France.

The United States is a melt pot for God's sake. Do you realize all the different cultures and ethnicity we have here and you want to call us ignorant? Honestly you have judge us based of our leader, Bush. Bush is dumb and Saddam his a murderer and dictator so is all of Iraq like that? No.Meet some Americans and you will realize how different and open-minded about other cultures and ethnicity. American is not just black and white, but Hispanic, European, Asian, African, Aussie, middle eastern, etc. I dont know what country you are from, but i bet we have more diversity here than you have there. Also what about all the other countries that constantly battling and unsympathetic to other cultures. The English and Irish; middle eastern countries, African countries, southeast Asian countries, North and South Korea, etc.
Next time think about the dis functional world we live in before you put blame on one country and generalize us all for the mistakes of our leaders and what you see on T.V. Also if we are so ignorant of other cultures than why would we spend millions of dollars of aid sending to other countries when we know damn well poverty is hitting home hard. Yes, sometimes we should mind our business, but if we dont who will make this world into a better place, because the UN isn't doing **** about it. FYI: the average American isn't rich as we are pro tray on fake T.V. shows and a lot of us do travel, more often than other people.

Well even though, some Americans talk a bunch of crap about their own country, they could think of no where else to live.
This is America, and deep down in our heart we love to be American! I rather be here in America, then is some other country, where me and my family are starving.
An example: I have been unemployed for a few months, and had to go on food stamps. I am very happy that the government supplies this program, and that people pay their taxes.Without it, my baby would not eat.
Most countries, do not offer this program, or dont have the funds!
I love America, and we are not ignorant.
Places such as "Iran" are ignorant, denying the Holocaust, and wanting to wipe Israel off the map! Who do they think they are?
The real question is, Why are other countries sooo Jealous of America?????????????

We're not in Europe, where there's a bunch of quality countries and cultures around. There's Canada up north (not much to see there, not much different from America), and Mexico down south (nice for some vacations but otherwise...).
There's just less cultural diversity because of geography. But we have many different cultures living in America - lots of English, Italians, Irish, African Americans, Asians, Eastern Europeans...so for the most part, those living in large cities are culturally diverse, while those living in more secluded areas (and there are a LOT of those in America) don't, as in any country, anywhere.

As you can see by the president's approval ratings most people do not back his foreign policy.
Just as many people in other countries will base their generalizations of Americans on some things they have seen without experiencing our culture in it's entirety. Some people base our lives simply on what they see on American television, which is not necessarily representative of America. America is a large country, we have many cultures within our own borders, so don't group us all together.
Some American's chose to stay ignorant of others cultures simply because they do not care or they feel that what they see on TV is representative of all people from that culture. Others simply don't care.
However, there are many Americans who don't make sweeping generalizations, and do understand the cultures of others or at least try to understand. I work very hard to understand what is going on in other countries and try very hard not to judge a country and her people simply because their leader is an idiot.

First of all, not all Americans are ignorant, and not all are ignorant to other cultures. Other cultures and counties can be just as ignorant. It's all in the person, and not in the society as a whole. Second of all, what do you mean "why do most Americans never leave America?" Of course they do! Many live in other countries temporarily for jobs or they are missionaries. Don't be so ignorant!

For openers, learn how to spell ignorant. 2ndly, you are probably from Europe. You must realize, since your so damn smart, that you can drive for four days and still be in America. 3rd: you would still have to drive another day (or more) to get to Alaska. In four days, you can hit 3/4 of Europe and in a matter of a 20 minute flight you can hit the rest, the middle east and Africa. You clearly need to think more critically before posting an asinine post. Don't think of yourself as superior. Americans have been paying taxes to defend Europe for 60 years. In that way Americans are ignorant.

Just because you think the pesident is ignorant it doesn't mean an entire nation is, there's ignorant people world-wide. And maybe they don't leave their country because it's so big and so diverse... why would they need to. Having said all that, I don't know any Americans so maybe I'm wrong and you're right....?
AND actually, for all you Americans who ARE being ignorant on here: realise is spelt with an s in UK and so is generalisation.... and it was our language first so I think we do know how to spell

Perhaps they are however I am guessing you are basing that on a few individuals. America the country does more for those less fortunate across the world than any other nation on earth. As for their president... it obviously wasn't your country that that had passenger jets run into your buildings. What would you have done?
