Is there any way to lower the suspension safely so it would be rideable to someone of this height?

I ride a '98 Speed Triple but I'm 6'4''. Didn't you also ask about a good novice bike in another question? If so, the answer is NOT a Speed Triple. Don't get me wrong, I adore my darling Lily (the delicate little flower). But I've also been riding for 30-odd (very odd) years.
My girlfriend took the MSF course last year and bought a Bonneville. Kinda tall for her but she's getting it.
Go to a dealer and sit on some bikes. The most important thing is to buy something that won't kill you or scare you so bad you sell it within the 1st month.
Be safe and you'll derive years of enjoyment. Be stupid and you'll get dead quick.

Yes, but it might not be the best choice. The Triumphs have a high center of gravity, not the best combination with short legs.

yes you can lower the suspension, but plan on spending a few bucks doing it.
