I don't know technically why but I know that it's not the interent explorer like it sounds like. It's just one of many program the computer needs in order to run. So don't end that task!

You always have explorer running. explorer.exe is not the same as iexplore.exe, which is the Internet Explorer. explorer.exe is a process that Windows uses to control all types of things. If you end process on it, it will probably start back up automatically. General, you want to leave that process alone. It is one of the most important ones on your system.

This is simply Microsoft Windows run itself. It is the only program that Windows cannot run without.

Be on the lookout for programs with similar names or ones not in the C:\Windows folder, as these could be viruses. But explorer.exe belongs in your task manager.

your getting mistaken.

explorer.exe is not Internet Explorer. Its a windows engine which keeps your programs running, the task bar at the bottom there, and is the hear of the windows system. End the process and see what happens.

explorer.exe : This is the user shell, which we see as the familiar taskbar, desktop, and so on.

By the way, you can change the user shell if you don't like using explorer.exe

iexplore.exe however is the internet explorer

Explorer exe is the program that selects and opens the files needed for the computer to work. Shut it down and you will have to restart your computer to make it operate again.

Its normal.

because its part of the OS, microsoft in trying to force everyone to using IE added it as part of the windows OS, I use firefox as my web browser and I too have it running and its why you cannot "uninstall it"

sorry
