Rabbits are very social creatures but will also do fine as a single rabbit given you give them enough attention. I had a single rabbit for over a year and it was just fine. Very healthy. So, yes, if you pay alot of attention to your rabbit it will not be so lonely. Also, put his cage in a place where he can see and hear your routines. Good luck!

That will help, but rabbits really need the company of their own kind too.

Tell your mum - pay attention, this is good: "If you want me to really be a responsible rabbit owner I'll need to have 2 rabbits as this is an important part of how you keep them happy and healthy." Then do some research into rabbit diet and husbandry, if you haven't already, and impress her with your vast knowledge! Say things like "A rabbit's diet should be 75% good quality hay" and "Actually rabbits should not be given lettuce, that's a myth" and "Rabbits teeth grow constantly and need to be worn down by eating hard food." She'll be stunned!

Definitely! Play with her every day, buy her small toys and remember that rabbits are smart, but they just don't seem smart when they are left in small cages with nothing to do all their lives. There are websites online about training house rabbits.

I know what I am about to say is very controversial but would your mom allow you to get a guinea pig. They are compatible. My bunny and pig cuddle together and groom each other. The only thing is the piggy has to have a "house " in the cage where they can get away from the bunny if it gets scared. But that way your mom doesnt have to worry about having baby bunnies!

Yes, we just have one rabbit as our only pet, and she lives in our kitchen (kept in by baby gates) so we naturally spend time with her every day. She's very interactive, and I'd say pretty happy.
