More cultural variety and deeper history than most folks realize:
Ethiopia--one of the oldest continuous civilizations on the planet.
Mali--in it's time, one of the world's great trading empires.
West African Juju music---has influenced popular music internationally. (My favorite is King Sunny Ade)
Wole Soyinka--Nigerian writer who won the 1986 Nobel Prize for Literature---his poetry is breathtaking.
And, of course, there is the tremendous natural beauty.

Sure the negatives are there, but it would be wrong to write off Africa as a lost cause. (For the record, it would also be wrong to blame all of the troubles on the Western world, but that's a separate discussion.)
Besdies, it's is almost certainly the birthplace of Humanity.

(and your Espanol was close; make it "respuestas muy ignorantes")

When I think of "Africa" my first thought is of Wildness, wild beasties of all sorts, jungles, wild plants and Tarzan! LOL

My second thought of "Africa" is abject poverty, starving children, and curupt governments, and dangerous men who care nothing about the people, but wish power, and inflict pain on others. AIDS also comes to mind and it is HUGE.

My third thought of "Africa" is the slaves that were stolen from those lands and sold or given by their own tribesmen. I think of all the misery these slaves went through, and how much harm their decendents still experiance today. I think of how they got their names and how they were beaten and raped and subjegated.

My fourth thought of "Africa" is of how the white folks went and stole the land, raped it and displaced the citizens of that fine country. I think of how the white folks live in luxury, while blacks serve in their homes for little pay, and not much more than slaves on their own lands.

My fith and final thought of "Africa" is of hope, is of assistance by those who truly care about the people, and not of raping or expoiting them. Of people of all races and creeds coming there on their own time and dime to help where they can, to hold back the tide of death, and horror the people live with daily. I think of the people themselves who pick themselves up and reach out for better lives, against great odds.

These are my real thoughts of Africa, and not just a sarcastic reply. They are honest, and if off the mark I apologize. I wish you a great day.
