Be safe and check with customs/immigration, and don't rely on answers for such important questions on yahoo.

Things on the northern (Canada) border have indeed tightened up, the previous story unfortunately is not a rare one. A Canadian friend of mine has a misdemeanor charge from 38 years ago, clear record since, pardon in Canada, and a border crossing waiver, yet has been denied entry twice on account of it, and now pays $6 every 6 months to get across the border, and told he needs a new waiver to the tune of $300. It's nuts! (He is a clean cut, 62 year old professional man).

You know things have changed so much over the past ocuple years , as the government is tightening up along the Canadian border. I can tell you personally as an AMERICAN citizen coming back to Detroit from Windsor Ontario (just across the border) I was actually detained for two hours because when I was asked which highways I was going to take to get back to Chicago I told them "I have to look at the map, I don';t know their numbers right off the top of my head" That simple answer caused me a MAJOR headache as the border agent closed down his little booth thing and had me follow him to the main building where my car was searched, my bags were searched, I was grilled by several different agents and all because I couldn'
t remember if I was going to be on interstate 95 or 96 or whatever.

I SAID ALL THAT TO SAY THIS;
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE?
