After all, Hitler served his country in wartime.
Hitler was wounded in combat.
Hitler worked hard on his own to unify his country.
Hitler had a plan to better the lives of the average German (ok, it was a crummy plan, but it was a plan).
Finally, Hitler had a moustache.
Is the comparison of their mentalities fair?

It's a bit of a stretch to make a direct comparison to the two leaders.

What Hitler Did...
1. Hitler used his position and the position of his advisers and cabinet to suppress free thought.
2. He held people in camps without legal counsel or trials.
3. He changed the rules of the German government to make it legal to spy on the citizens regardless of their being any real threat.
4. Directed a tremendous amount of Germany's economy toward the war machine.
5. Invaded sovereign countries that were no threat to Germany.
6. Indiscriminately bombed cities and civilians. Also used banned weapons.
7. Instituted a system of German citizens snitches to turn in "undesirables" who turned out to be innocent victims.
8. Called the people he wanted to dominate "Evil"
9. Used propganda in the media to sway the German peoples opinion.

In the U.S., one has the right to make that comparrison but the facts are actually quite different.

Hitler had a rather immoral ideology that Germans were the master race and that Jews were not quite human and needed to be exterminated.

President Bush has a strong moral compass based on his Christian values and views of Democracy being the right of all free men. While the outcome in Iraq sometimes looks bleak, the people of Iraq deserve to be free from tyranny and to have democracy. While it will not be easy, sometimes doing the moral thing usually is not. By trying to spread democracy, there will come a time when future generations of Iraq may appreciate the efforts made by Bush and the U.S. and help turn the tide of radical muslim hatred bent on destruction of all non-muslims, much like Hitler wanted to destroy all the jews. The fact that so many terrorists are there in Iraq trying to thwart our attempts to install democracy there ought to be a clear indication we are on the right path! Anything objectionable to a terrorists must be good!

Your user name tells me you are probably a lawyer or law student. I suppose the positive traits you give Hitler are the ones you would use if you had the wonderful privilege to defend him in a war crimes tribunal. You exhibit all the slimy traits that we citizens normally attribute to lawyers. Lawyers are destroying our country, and pond scum like you reinforce my honest opinion that we should round you all up, strap some C4 to you, and use you for ammo in the next phase of the war on terror. Would you like to be dropped over Tehran or Damascus? I hear the view over Tehran is beautiful this time of year.

Edit: I just realized that lawyers are so crooked our airmen would have trouble with the targeting. So maybe we should just make you all a bunch of little lawyerlandmines. If we bury you deep you'll stay put long enough for an iranian islamotank to hit you.

I'm no fan of the schrub, but I think the comparison is unfair. Unless you restrict it to military acumen, then it might be true. After all, Hitler ignored some of the greatest generals in history during the Normandy invasion, and insisted the Panzers hold near Calais. Kind of like Dubya ignoring the Iran report.

Bush is NOT Hitler
I'm strongly against most of his policies and I honestly also not like him in as far as I know him on a personal level.
The comparison to Hitler is out of line to me because of who Hitler was.The greatest criminal in human History in my opinion.Bush started one illegal war but not with the intent to take over the world(even the biggest anti Bush people can't think that)Hitler started many unprovoked illegal wars in an effort to dominate and colonize Europe and later the world.Hitler was a racist and an atisemite,I believe Bush is not and even those who contribute some racism to Bush can't say with a straight face it's in the same league as Hitlers.Hitler advocated and carried out genocide on Jews, homosexuals and all political opponents.Bush doesn't respect civil liberties as much as I would like and I do think that's a serious problem but in my opinion the difference is Crystal clear.
I think it's also offensive to people who suffered because of the Nazi regime to make that statement(Bush is Hitler)
I do think similarities that are there are fair game to be pointed out. but always without going overboard and calling Bush Hitler

The mindless comparisons of our troops and their commander to Nazis never ceases to amaze me. People think just because they disagree with Bush and his religion that that makes him a tyrannt. People who mindlessly drone on about how evil Bush is dont know what true evil is. (unless they look in the mirror)

It's not fair. I hate Bush, but he is no Hitler..(plus note that he always sides w. Israel). If you wanted to be correct, you would have to say "Is It Wrong to Compare Dick Cheney to Hitley"...Project for a New American Century. wiki it.

Hitler was a self made man and got where he did by success .
Bush lost hundreds of millions of other peoples money and would have never earned a living if it where not for family money and influence .
ow he has brought along his brand of success which is to profit at everyone else's expense .

Hitler killed himself when he realized he failed and Bush will not .
To bad they are not more alike .
Its unfair to compare a great man like hitler with a loser like Bush .

Whenever liberals have poor arguments they fall back to the old standby demonizing people you disagree with it is so tiresome.

Anything you want to compare to Bush would be just fine; I'm just glad he's not a Democrat!
