just had some ladies at my door inviting me to attend a commemoration of Jesus' death.
I said no thanks cuz I don't CELEBRATE death, I celebrate life.

Do you think they'll get the hint...?

I DO understand the meaning of Easter (both Christian and Pagan), thank you.
I just choose not to celebrate or "commemorate" anything that has to do with death in the form of torture. Nor do I have concrete evidence that Jesus rose again besides a book written and interpreted by men I know NOTHING about. I don't believe in blind faith either!

On that note...I just put a sign on my front door that reads:
"No Soliciting, No Selling, No Special offers!! Religion, Free Product or anything else!!"

My home is my shelter. Mine, mine, mine!!

well "the-pixar-princess", I have been to funerals as well as memorials...BUT THEY WERE MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY!!!!! Are you blind or can you not read!? Eplaining at length something I already know is not going to change my opinion. Just because it differs from yours doesn't mean I am criticizing either.

Did they actually say a commemoration of Jesus' death? Because if they did, that's not Easter. Easter is the celebration of Jesus' resurrection. Easter is supposed to be the day that Jesus' was found to have risen.

Secondly, if they said "commemoration," that's different from "celebration." A commemoration is a remembrance. There are many ceremonies to commemorate Martin Luther King on his birthday but they don't celebrate his death.

And if you actually *said* the whole thing about not celebrating death, I figure they'll understand. Unless they feel they need to make clear to you that it's not about celebrating death.

Easter.........although if you look at the glass half empty you see how death of Jesus is celebrated, you could also look at it half full and celebrate the fact that he rouse from the dead three days after his death!!

At least is why Sunday is the most important day out of the whole week!!

...........also until recent years people think of death as a bad thing...........but in many cultures the coming of a new member or the tribe, family or group is well celebrated as the going of a member(death), In some cultures parties have been known to last up to months after the departing and some religions do this as well, Catholics celebrate the death of family and friends who they knew by mentioning them on prayer 30 days after their death and as annyversaries but don't know every how many days.........but I know they do for up to three years if I am right.........then again I don't attend services nor am I catholic but my cousins are and they still have services for my Mom who died 1 year and 6 months ago going on 7!!

Celebrating death is not bad at least not all the time because it reminds you of those you were close and have now parted!!

Easter isn't a celebration of Jesus' death, it's a celebration of His coming back to life 3 days later.

Easter is the celebration of Jesus returning back to life.

Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter, he died on Good Friday. When you said what you did, the ladies at your door "got the hint" you were to busy for them cause you had a MENSA meeting .

If you knew something that could help other people, wouldn't you share it? So the answer to your question is no, they will continue to try and share what they believe with other people. As far as getting the hint as far as coming back to your house then yes, they probably will not come back. It's not the celebration of , you might want to consider hearing what Easter really is. Might want to get your facts right and why people celebrate Easter.

The Jehovah's Witnesses came and invited us to the same thing last week. Good times, death party, yeehaw!!! Hahahhaaa... I was like "no thanks... not interested... but have fun!" and let me big dog squeeze his nose out the door so they would get the hint.

Good Friday is the somber party of Holy Week, not the celebratory part, that's Easter ( =

They have been coming to my home for years and haven't figured it out yet that we are Christians so don't count on any miracles - even with the approach of the Resurrection!

Well....last time I checked, Easter was a celebration of LIFE! Maybe they had been out in the sun a little too long and it fried their brains. I love your answer to them, though.

Were they those people who just go door to door? Mormons or something?

But you know, in society today, there are a lot of people who never get the hints. Poor souls.

Easter is not about the death of Jesus. He died on Friday and rose on Sunday. It is a celebration of him rising from the grave.

I just can't believe someone would ask you that. They just don't get it!!

Easter is the commemoration of Jesus' RISE from the dead. They should really have the details straight before they begin preaching to others! haha!

Easter is a celebration of victory over death, or ressurrection. I don't like wearing crosses because to me they symbolize death, but Easter is a celebration in my estimation.
