Hey i was on craigslist and i found the deal of a life time on a 2002 altima. So i contacted the seller and they wish to use an online escrow company. I have heard some terrible things about people being cheated out of their money, and i dont have money to lose. So now i turn to you guys, has anyone heard about or done business with a site called webautotrade.com. the web site looks official but i am still a little weary. HELP, i dont want to lose this deal BUT i dont want to lose my money either. All answers are greatly appreciated. THAnKs

It can be safe to use an online escrow company, but ONLY if you use one that is real. (The one you posted is not, I'll tell you why in a moment.) If a seller (or buyer) insists on using another company because it's a "great deal" or they've had good experiences, walk away. I included a link to a list of real escrow companies, if the seller in this case doesn't want to use them, DO NOT believe it's a real deal no matter how good it is!

The web site webautotrade.com was created on March 28 2007, so "© 2001" at the bottom of every page is a lie. The same web site template with three people leaning on the table is used on a lot of scam escrow sites. The address 416 Watline Ave Toronto has been used before on scam escrow sites.

I could go on, but hopefully that's enough to prove to you not to trust this deal :-)

Go to the Better Business Bureau site for the area that they are in and see if they are. Find out their location, address, etc and put that information in. I found nothing on them with a search on the internet.
I would not do business with them until I made sure it was a reputable company. It is not worth losing your money

Run as if your life depended on it!

No way would I touch anything like that unless it was someone I could walk up to, at their house or business, and hand over the cash in return for the pink slip on a car I had already checked on CarFax.

If it seems too good to be true it IS too good to be true.

i did a search of all of the online forums and no one posted anything bad about it.

contact the better business bureau http://www.bbb.org/ and http://www.consumer.gov/ but this only works for usa companies.

there is an old saying "If it seems to good to be true then you can bet it is." You never get anything worthwhile for free.

Don't EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use an online escrow company! Not ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever.....

get my drift? You need a car but you don't need it that bad-- trust me. You should report them to Craigslist, better business, andany other on line scam monitoring agency there is....
