To me individual right that allow destructive behavior to oneself is not a right at all. Do people forget we have support systems out there and people who will adopt? Why do people want Individual Right to abort a child, to pay a doctor to kill themselves? I mean come on now.

Thomas Jefferson once commented about 'individual rights' by saying one person's rights ends where another's begins. Liberals tend to loose sight of this concept!

Every where we turn, there are examples where our individual rights are limited. Speed limits, for example. We cannot drive as fast in our own vehicles as we may like to because the safety of others outweighs our own recklessness. We do not have the right to commit suicide and many have been punished for trying to assist those WANTING to die.

So why would their so-called right to end the life of an unborn child be treated any differently? Why should the life of the child be forfeited without consideration?

The bottom line is, these Pro-choice already do have a choice... abstain from sex or use birth control. That way, they don't have to go thru an unwanted pregnancy and an innocent child does not have to pay the ultimate price for their neglect in the heat of passion!

Do you even have any idea what you are talking about? First, abortion is not self destruction! it is the termination of a fetus. Second, the "so called" support system for unwanted children is little better than a prison system. Third, the majority of infants placed in foster care never get adopted because people like you only want perfect babys. Fourth not all pregnancies are the result of careless sex. My step-daughter was gang raped at age 14. The pregnancy could have gone to term, but the psychological damage would have been permanent. We nearly lost her to attempted self abortion when she found out she was pregnant. get your facts strait before you run your mouth.

Conservatives base theirs on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Conservatives also know that a right, a true right, does not harm another or force another to perform an action or take money from another. We also know that all rights are individual rights.

There is and should only be one definition of individual rights, the constitution. Those rights were set down to protect us from an oppressive and tyrannical government much like what congress is doing today.

I know a few liberals, quite nice people and their interpretation of the constitution and mine are almost identical. I know a few socialist/commie/dems who like to call themselves liberals as it gives them respectability that commie would not, but their interpretation of the constitution does not even come close to mine, in fact most of them want to do away with it.

Maybe you are confusing socialist/commies with liberals? I know it is sometimes easy to do.

This is the first time I've heard anyone try to claim that liberals want less government interference in life...

Liberals like public education to be forced on people and to have required material that offends most conservatives.

Liberals like stealing money from hard working people and giving it to people to lazy to get a job and calling it welfare.

Liberals invented "Political Correctness" which amounts to censorship of any person who disagrees with a liberal.

Liberals are great at trying to rewrite history and at misrepresenting reality.

Liberals are talking about individual people. Conservatives are talking about individual corporations.

Conservatives believe you are guaranteed merely life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness.

Liberals believe that you not only have the right to that life, but you have the right to a certain QUALITY of that life.

Conservatives believe that the quality of that life, is your own responsibility.

Because liberals believe that individuals should have the final say over what happens to them. Compared to conservatives who believes the government should act as parent and have the final say.

It's one of the core philosophical differences between the two camps. Individual choice versus control by the majority.

As far as abortion, you're forgetting the other side of the equation. If reproductive rights were not a matter of individual choice, then the government gets to make all the decisions.

And while the govt could use that power to outlaw abortion, it could just as easily use that power to force abortion (like China does), or make mandatory sterilization. That's the flips side -- either the govt makes the choices for everyone, or the individual is free from government control.

So, as long as you're the current majority, you may support government control. But would you feel the say way if the govt decided to make abortion mandatory after the first child? Or make abortion mandatory for those on welfare?

Because if the individual loses the right to choose, that can happen just as easily as outlawing abortion altogether.

That's your own personal interpretation of rights, but you're twisting it to suit your way of thinking.

Why should the State control what the individual does, as long as s/he isn't interfering with the rights of others? Assisted euthanasia harms nobody but the dying patient, but you would rather keep a person who is in so much pain alive. You would rather torture them than give them the peace they ask for.

You're sick.

"To me individual right that allow destructive behavior to oneself is not a right at all."

your OPINION is meaningless here in the USA. We are a land of LAWS.

you cons claim you would surrender complete control of your body over to the government. More likely you misogynists just want women to do that, you'd never do it yourself!
