Would people be able to make themselves sleep every two days? I know that its sort of 'built in' to us to sleep ever night, but is that just because of doing it for thousands of years? Are we able to go against our bodies norm's and make new norm's for ourselves?

I read somewhere , years ago that the human body runs on a 25hour clock, which resets when we sleep.

trying to function for two days without sleep, over and over.
could damage your immune system. as one of the effects of sleep depravation. also lead to mood swings and reduced brain function, until proper sleep is restored.
At a certain point of tiredness your body may deside it has had enough and just shut down. sending you if you are lucky into a deep sleep for several days, over which you have no control.

Umm well, I'm a medic and we can work 24hr to 36hrs shifts....then you get that "burst" of energy the second your shift is up and you go without sleep for yet another day.

So I know that we are capable of staying awake longer then what we're trained to do...I'm guessing if we exhausted ourselfs then we could sleep it off for two ways and just continue that routine.
