They don't work, as I have had them. They are a type of geranium, and do smell like cintronella if you squish the leaf and then smell your hands.

I say save your money, and dump all standing water, or use a product called "mosquito dunks" that contain a larvicide that kills young mosquito larvae, if you have a pond or creek nearby that can't be drained.

I have had great results from these mosquito "donuts".

How To Propagate Citronella Plant

You can buy them at your local garden store or order it from Michigan Bulb. Can order it on line.
Call 513-354-1497 or fax 513-354-1499 its called the mosquito plant and has a citronella scent when the leaves are touched. It comes potted and costs $3.99 Hardy to zones 9-10 but annual everywhere else. Also make sure you dont have any standing water that attracts mosquitos. Do not use saucers that can accumulate water in pots. I have started a small pond and keep goldfish in it. I feed the goldfish very little bought food and they eat all my mosquitos. By the end of the season the goldfish are big and yet I dont have a mosquito problem--its a win win situation.

Call different nurseries.Depending on the size of the plant anywhere from $10.00 to $25.00.If they like where you put them they grow and you can propagate them.
