Over a hot fudge sundae the size of a mountain - that way she'll have something to keep her busy while you run out the back door.

We'll I'd be more interested in their health, not being embarrassed by them.

Tell them straight up, you're worried about their health and don't want to see them die early of a heart attack or watch their feet fall off from diabetes.

I love how all these people are bashing you for asking this question- as if 99% of these people on here would even be caught dead hanging out with a morbidly obese person themselves.

Don't you dare do it, because no matter how you go about it you are going to hurt this persons feelings. Telling an obese person that they are obese is like telling a tall person that they are tall...duh...they know already!

Approach this person as a friend who is concerned for their health and welfare. Don't share your opinions about obesity and embarrassment, that helps no one. Be a friend and show sincere concern.

Umm.....welll i think you have to be mean in this situation
I wouldn't tell em you're embarassed to go out in public with them, but tell em they are just plain obese. Not fat, but obese.

Fat is relative. Like i think i'm fat, since i gained about 40 lbs from already having a slight pot belly.....without lifting weights......but everyone says i'm skinny.

Obese, there is no relativness.

GO more on the route of its bad for their health i think.

ALthough telling em you are embarassed to go out with them in public might work in getting the point across of how obese they are.

In the end, you gotta make it sound like its for their benefit, not yours...for them to lose weight.

Um, well I did have a really really fat friend. I thought she was so disgusting every time she ate, especially in my car.

I always hinted for her to exercise or something, but honestly, I doubt exercise would have helped her.

I just stopped talking to her which lead to not haning out with her.

Accept it or don't go. You think they are not aware of how they look? They like it that YOU don't make any comments about it. Obese people are pretty sensitive with good reason. That it is mostly their own fault that they are obese weighs heavy (no pun intended) on their minds. So, accept it or don't go.

Just suggest you stay in and work out to a new video you bought. And don't ever go out in public again

make them use the garage door to enter your house.

suggest a salad intsead of a ten course meal

make her or him start a NEW eating disorder, it couldn't hurt.

Chances are, they already know that.
Just explain that you're concerned about their health.
You could invite them to go for a nice walk once in a while...I mean since you're friends, you can chat while you get exercise.

Drop hints that you're worried about their weight and uncomfortable being seen with them. I say "hints" 'cos you want to see their reaction and if they seem to be not bothered by it, I think maybe both of you could start an exercise plan and eat a low-carb diet. You're not "telling" her but "helping" her. :) It will benefit both of you dearly, I believe.

It would be really hard to do it without hurting thier feelings, no matter how you put it, But you can try to be gentle and let them know that you are concerned about their health.
