If you're talking about a 30 - 50 gal., full size water heater, you're also talking about either a gas line or a 220 Volt electric line to it. Once you decide the method you're going to use to heat the water, then the plumbing hook up is basically the same for the larger unit as the smaller unit, which you apparently now have. Cold water feed goes where it says COLD on top and hot water comes out where it says HOT on top. It can be hooked up with reinforced flex hose or rigid piping of some sort.

sound to me like it is too small I don't know if it's electric or gas but you will need a bigger one you have 3 wires red black and bare ground wire go color to color and wire cap them black elertical tape them after you conect them gas just re hook it but make sure you turn off line and no smoking can I peek.opps make sure you turn off the power braker hate to see you get zapped
