NO, that does not make you a bad person. You sound like you did everything that you could. You have to think about your safety too.

Not a bad person just a bad decision. My husbands best friend died due to drunk driving so he never lets anyone leave the house if they have been drinking, hes also twice the size of most of the people who come over. Hope all goes well and if there's a next time don't give in just hide the keys and give him some coffee

No, but a dumb one. Just imagine if this would have happened. your "friend" drives away, and hits another car. Your friend is OK, but in the other car driven by a pregnant woman with her two kids in the car. The unborn baby hits the steering wheel and dies. So does one of the kids in the back seat that flies through the windshield. The cops arrive and start an investigation. Your "friend" says, well I was coming from my Friends house, and he gave me the keys, even though I told him not to. The police eventually knock on your door and wanting to be the good citizen, you tell them the truth. You are charged with your friend, he for vehicular manslaughter and you as an accomplice. The woman and her husband sue you and get your house and your income. The trial lasts for six months and you get a jail time of 5 to 10 years, and as pretty as you are, the inmates pass you around as their *****. How's that sound so far?

Jason, you are NOT responsible for anything your friend did, from getting drunk, to driving away. Today, society wants everyone to either take the blame, or share the guilt of irresponsible people, but ultimately we are only responsible for our own actions, and your inability to dissuade your friend isn't in any way a lack on your part. You tried, but they are not your responsibility, nor is it your place to force others to do as you wish, even if it's the best thing for them and others.

No, your not a bad person.. You just were very angry at someone who wasn't even in their right mind at the time. You did what you could, no one should ever blaim you. Besides, you actually went out of your way to at least try to stop this from happening.

You should have either offered to drive him where he wanted to go, or walked him out to the car, unlocked it, threw the keys in the car and locked them inside. If he was very drunk, you could have whipped the living crap out of him and told him the neighbor kid did it last night... Giving him the keys and letting him drive was not the right thing to do and had he killed someone or himself, I am willing to bet that "friend" would not be the title you would give yourself.

I don't think you should beat yourself up over this. Although I know if something were to happen you would feel terribly guilty in the end. But, you must remember that people have to make their own decisions in life and ultimately what choices they make will be their own downfall or success.

No, that doesn't make you a bad person, but if you truely cared for your friend you would have stopped him from making this BIG mistake.
