All of WWII was over in less than 5 years!

We've already been in Iraq 4 years!

How about Iraq takes care of Iraq?

That was the plan when Pres. Bush entered office, set up a military presence in Iraq that could be used to "control" affairs in the Middle-East. We would be welcomed as liberators by the people and allowed to stay.

Didn't quite work out that way though.

"We should use U.S. and allied military power to provide protection for liberated areas in northern and southern Iraq; and -- We should establish and maintain a strong U.S. military presence in the region, and be prepared to use that force to protect our vital interests in the Gulf - and, if necessary, to help remove Saddam from power"

WWII was over in 5 years and 12 years later we were still helping the Germans and Japanese rebuild their countries.

Your premise is short sighted and simplistic.

No one, not even conservatives like this war, in spite of some of the liberal rhetoric in here to the contrary.

War is a nasty and unpleasant business. But that is not a valid reason to not go to war nor is it a valid reason to surrender in a war.

We are trying to do a job militarily in Iraq that is part of our overall strategic planning in our war against islamic fascism.

Unwittingly you have stated some small truth in your question.

The war in Iraq will come to an end at some indefinite (at this point) time in the future. The war against islamis fascism is going to be generational and no one can begin to predict how it will progress or be resolved.

We beat Germany in 5 years.

We've been in Germany ever since.

We don't need to be fighting in Iraq indefinitely. I've said before that our pull out needs to be condition oriented and not time oriented. When the conditions on the ground are met, we leave.

That condition is exactly what you said. When Iraq can take care of Iraq.

We pull out of Iraq now and the same thing will happen that happen after the Gulf War. Do some research.

The Democrats want to literally inform the world, and the insurgents as to when we are going to leave. DUMB!!

"Hello, why don't you terrorist murderers just sit tight for a while, we will be leaving on April 21, 2008, okay??"

We have been on the 38th paralell since 1951 in South Korea. That adds up to 56 years. We will be in Iraq, Afganistan and maybe Iran longer than that , probably.

Yes, that is the whole idea. The Globalists have every intention of dragging this so called war, for as long as the people let them get away with it. That was their plan even before the war started. They want to create a new world order, and a one world government, and this is just one of the steps in their agenda! I am still seeing incredibly stupid answers to your questions....do you think these bushtards will ever open their eyes, and see things as they really are? or are they just globalist wannabes? *sm*

Or; let's just run like hell tomorrow and buy up all the prime cemetary property for after the civil war between the religious groups kills 2/3 of the country.

How about finishing what we started and forgetting about time machines and 20/20 hindsight.

Leaving it open-ended sounds good to me as long as congress realizes it's the president the Constitution gives the authority to run the military not them.

This way it will end in peace

I'm all for letting Iraq take care of Iraq. Enough is enough. How long can the "it takes time" argument stay fresh?
