I've been dating this guy for 4 months now. Right now he's very wrapped up in physical training for a new job (state police) while still working a regular office job. He is very focused on his training because he hates his current job so much. I've been very very understanding of his commitment towards this, but it's getting to the point where I feel like I'm bothering him every time I call or email.
My question is... Do I ask him if he needs space, or do I just back off without having that discussion? I think I'm afraid that if I give him too much space, he'll think I'm not interested anymore, but I don't want to seem like I'm nagging by having that discussion. Give me your thoughts... (we're both adults, this isn't a teenage situation)

Don't know where you live but if he's training to be a state trooper then let him train. Just let him know your there for him, but your going to stay a couple steps back so he can fulfill his dream.
He'll love you all the more for it. Work out a schedule with him. Patrol school is way to hard to start with so to be maintaining a full time job besides, tells me he's a keeper. So do what you can to support him. He won't forget you for it.

I was a deputy and hold high regard for troopers as everyone has help they can call, a trooper is on his own most of the time.

I would caution you now, if your serious about him know what your getting into before marriage, because a cops hours aren't the 9-5 Mon-Fri. They may get off at 11:00 pm. and not get home until 4 am. because of reports or arrests.

You have to put a lot of faith in your mate, and trust it's work keeping him. He may get called away from parties, etc.
So know that before you get too attached.

A trooper goes through many exams so his moral standards a very high.

I have a wife that allows me to continue my dream job as the Investigator for an atty. in Missouri.

She trusts me implicitly, and I now have the job 8:30-4:30 Mon-Fri

Hope this helps
