I am a Twins fan, so I hate to say it, but I think they will. They really have the best all around team in the AL, maybe in baseball. Rogers going down hurts, but people have forgotten how good Maroth i,so they'll be just fine w/o the Gambler for a while. GREAT lineup, great starters, great bullpen, you can't really find a weakness here.it could be the most dominating year since 1984 for the Tigers!

Best team ever!? Wow. You really ARE a homer, aren't you!?
Ha ha. In any case, I hope they do. I am a big fan, and have been for my entire life. I used to use this fact as my proof that I was not a bandwagon fan of the Pistons and Red Wings... but now they are not a good excuse. (At least I still have the Lions for this purpose!)
My worry is that their season last year was a fluke. I love the Tigers, but I am a realist. They had a lot of lucky breaks, and I am not sure if we can count on luck anymore. Everyone will be gunning for us. Our hitting is very suspect. A lot of guys probably overachieved. Maybe Gary Sheffield will shake things up. Maybe he won't.
That said, if the young pitchers stay hot and don't suffer from big heads this year, anything can happen. Some "experts" predict we'll decline in pitching, especially Todd Jones. Pitching wins championships, though, so if these guys prove the experts wrong again, then we'll be in it. We've got a great coach, and that might ultimately be the difference in keeping these guys minds in the game and not on last year.
Here's hoping! I'm afraid that years of disappointment have left me a bitter skeptic. That said, last year made me believe that anything is possible. We'll see.

It won't be easy, if they do.
Cleveland, Minnesota, Oakland, California (Angles. I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO CALL THEN THE LA ANGELS OF ANIHIEM!), Boston, and New York all have a great chance.
If The Tigers do make the playoffs (I am not expecting that, but it would be nice) and they face The Yankees I'd be worried.
The Yankees will be looking to get even after The Tigers gave them a good old fashioned @$$ whooping in the Divisonal Series last year.

They are in a very tough division this year with the Twins and much improved Indians. The White Sox are no good anymore. I think in the end they will win their division and will make it back to the World Series. I think this year is the Mets year though if they get quality pitching.

The only thing that is certain in the AL is that the Devil Rays will be playing golf in October. All the divisions look like a pretty even field. Lets ask this question again after the all-star break.

I see you have an unbiased opinion about this. :)
You never know, that central division is the best in baseball. You have to like their chances though. Sheffield has looked good this spring...sucks about Rogers blood clot (reportedly).
Go Tigers!!

American League? They won't even win their division this year. Last year was a fluke. Good luck with a 78 - 84 record.

Wooooooo Nellllly. They will contend like last year and will have to earn it like last year. The AL has a lot of hard hitting teams in it, and it's just too early to crown any one team.
