No, not normal. Does it happen when he is feeding or all the time? Does it happen when he sleeps? Also, has he vomited?

There could be a few reasons why your baby gags. If your bottlefeeding, then the nipple hole might be to big. To much formula could be coming out and choking him. He (or she) might have reflux, but there is usually a lot of spit up or vomitting with that. He could simply have an upset stomache and not feel good. Kids gag and puke all the time. That's how my 4 month old tells me she is full. She will be eating and all of a sudden push the bottle out of her mouth and gag. As long as he's eating and not puking it up, he might just be a person who has a quick gag reflex.

My son did that for a while , still does every once in a while, he is a month old. He would gag while not eating and spit up a lot somtimes projectal vomiting, so the ped recommanded an upper G.I. to make sure everything was working properly. (It was)
I would definetly let your ped know about this call today.

sounds like one of the symptoms of acid reflux--it seems like every baby is born with that these days.
talk to baby's doc about it.
does he/she arch their back while eating? or seemingly 'choke' on the milk/formula?
if so acid reflux is probably it
