will a japanese iPod video work in the UK?

or will i need to buy it from here?

Yes it will work just fine. The only thing is getting it back into English if its pre-installed with Japanese!
Just make sure that if its an Internet purchase, that it is a proper Apple iPod and not a Hong Kong Style "Rip Off" Copy. You will find plenty of Fake iPods on eBay (particularly the Nano!) even the boxes are identical.

The iPod itself should work fine, but if it includes an AC-USB adapter you'll need to buy one specifically for the UK.
