History seems to repeat, what past military action with the outcome good or bad, does the Iraq stand off remind you of?

The closest thing is the sectarian war in Northern Ireland, where you had violence between the IRA and the Provos, with the British Army trying to keep the peace.

Not a civil war, just as Iraq is not a civil war.

Sectarian violence, but it seems that Christians aren't as bloodthirsty as the Muslims are.

That was the thing that was not predicted n Iraq - the level of terrorist killings by the insurgents. Nobody reckoned they'd casually murder so many civilians.

They remind me of kids playing tug of war over a toy. Childish and selfish.

As for a military action I am not sure, maybe you will give us your take on it..

This might seem strange, but it reminds me a lot of the Roman occupation of Judea 2000 years ago. Minus the Humvees.

To my knowledge I dont recall such turmoil during a war reconstruction effort. Its unfortunate that more Iraqis are more concered with trying to make the Us look bad and kill our troops rather than building a brave new nation. All thanks to Islamic extremism.
