The PCI buss , a PCMCIA slot, and the USB connector are faster than any current 802.11 transfer rate so they should give equal speed. However the PCI Buss and the PCMCIA slot can supply more power than the USB connector and it is possible they will provide greater range.
Unless you are PCI slot limited the card also is an internal item and maybe less likely to be damaged than a dongle which would be external. On the other hand, most USB wireless devices are on a gumball which allows better aiming of the antenna. Sigh, trade offs.

A PCI slot usually exists only inside a desktop system, so the antenna is in the back of the unit. A USB adapter will work with a laptop or desktop where it plugs into an external USB port. For ordinary wireless G connections, either one is sufficient.

Hi,
Both units work the same, but if you have a "USB" one try using an Extension cable so you can mount it up high, I can get about 1km on my one. That's a good tip.
